Northwest Michigan Industrial Association

Northwest Michigan Industrial Association (NWMIA) is a regional manufacturing trade association founded in 1974 that represents manufacturers across several northern Michigan counties including Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim, Otsego, Grand Traverse, Cheboygan, and Kalkaska. It exists to support the needs of manufacturing businesses in that region through training networking advocacy and industry resources.

The association helps members with workforce development and technical recruiting, offers training seminars and collaborates with area colleges and local partners on safety and employment programs. It also engages in legislative monitoring and reform related to workers’ compensation single business tax OSHA Right-To-Know laws and other issues that impact manufacturers.

Beyond core manufacturing support, NWMIA also provides events, member directories, job and internship resources, and connections between manufacturing firms and associate service providers (like utilities, consulting and financial institutions), aimed at strengthening the North Michigan industrial community.
